Jill began chemo on Monday 8/17 at 9:30am. She will go through 16 weeks of treatment, with sessions occurring every other week, and each session lasting two hours. Sessions consist of a chemo called Adriamycin which is often referred to as Big Red or Red Devil. It was administered using a syringe to pass the chemo through a port that was inserted in her chest. That was followed by a saline bag drip to keep her hydrated and finished with a final chemo drip. She had a follow-up shot yesterday to boost her white blood cell count, which will strengthen her body’s defense system and reduce her risk of infection. I found that this page had some helpful information on the IV drip and the booster shot given after.
Thank you all so much for your prayers and support thus far, and please keep Jill in your thoughts and prayers as she continues her battle. She is hanging in there–but she is extremely fatigued and needs your prayers.
Found this poem and thought I would share it:
Cancer I did not give you the right,
To invade my body and take a bite.
This is my body and with all my might,
I will previal with one hell of a fight.
To the cancer inside, I will battle and kill.
For that is my God given will.
To my cancer, these words I do send.
Your life is short and near the end!
I love you Jill
Prayers and more prayers,
Mandi
Jill, my days are filled with all the daily stuff that it takes to make a living, take care of the kids, but each day I start it thinking of you. As I make my way into work, I a say a prayer for you and for strength to get through this “fighting phase”. This life changing event for you and those who adore you has to have a reason. We just need to keep each others spirits up and keep letting you know that you are not alone. There is many here that are with you – even when we can’t be close to you in KY. Keep your messages coming and remember we are with you on all the days-good and bad.
Regan and family
Jill,
It was great seeing you in KY and wish I could have stayed longer to help out. Watching you get your head shaved and how scared you were broke my heart but you are so strong and was able to make a joke with the mohawk look. You are beautiful with or without hair. And I think of you all throughout my day.
I love you so much and will always be here for you.
Love,
Cindy
